Johnny Mathis – Home For Christmas: This 1990 video features fourteen traditional Christmas tunes sung by the talented crooner Johnny Mathis and interspersed with photographs and images of the Mathis family celebrating the yuletide season with plenty of presents, egg nog, and cheer. 49 minutes. VG condition.

Tony Bennett – A Family Christmas: Tony entertains his family in this 1992 made-for-TV special by singing a repertoire of holiday favorites, and then is joined late in the show by the quartet Manhattan Transfer. Fortunately, he invited his backup musicians to the house as well! 55 minutes. VG+/EX condition.

Neil Diamond – The Christmas Special: This one-hour special was made to coincide with the 1992 release of Diamond’s “The Christmas Album” and includes performances of many of the same songs, sometimes augmented by such diverse vocal ensembles as a doo-wop group, children’s choir and mixed chorale. 44 minutes. Excellent condition.

Anne Murray – What A Wonderful Christmas: The TV cameras were rolling when Murray performed this Christmas concert at the Orpheum Theater in Vancouver in 2001. She is joined on stage by Diana Krall and Leahy. If the audience looks unusually warm, it is because the concert took place on July 31! This recording contains commercials from the original CBC broadcast in December of that year. 59 minutes. VG+/EX condition.

“The Longest Night” is a made-for-TV movie that is based on the real-life story of the kidnapping of Barbara Jane Mackle in 1968.

Karen Chambers is the daughter of a wealthy Florida real estate developer and a student at an out-of-state college. When she becomes ill during an influenza epidemic, she takes a room in a nearby motel because the campus infirmary is full, and her mother comes from Florida to be with her. Very early one morning the Chambers women are awoken by a knock on their door and a male voice that identifies himself as a police officer. When Norma Chambers opens the door, two armed kidnappers force their way in, tie up Norma, and force Karen into their car. They drive her to a remote wooded area where she is then forced into an underground coffin, with only a battery-powered air pump and some water as a means of survival. The kidnappers demand a ransom of $500,000 for her return, which Alan Chambers is willing to pay, but problems arise in his attempts to actually deliver the ransom and learn the location of his daughter’s subterranean prison.

This program was originally broadcast on ABC on September 12, 1972.

Run time 74 minutes
Condition: VG-
