Ed Blonski is an ordained minister currently serving as Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church & School in Ontario (Suburban Los Angeles), California. In the summer of 2004 he began hosting Visions of Light on the BostonPete.com Radio Network and is now the host of The Classical Stream.
Ed is no newcomer to radio. He started his seminary training in 1987 in St. Louis, Missouri. To help pay for his textbooks he got a job at the Concordia Historical Institute going through the historical collection of papers and books and recording identification numbers in a log book. His workroom was in a windowless basement that was kept at a crisp 58 degrees. After two months of this, Ed was ready for a change. He walked down the street to the seminary building that was the home of KFUO AM/FM radio. (KFUO’s founder – a Lutheran pastor who also studied at Concordia Seminary – was also the founder of The Lutheran Hour.) Ed introduced himself to the program director and they talked about his seminary studies, classical music (a passion of Ed’s since his days in the high school chamber choir) and Christian music. That was on a Thursday afternoon. Two days later, Ed was on the air hosting the morning show on KFUO AM. He’s done just about all the jobs you could do at a radio station (except for sales). He’s been producer of talk shows, engineer of live-remotes, and host of Bible study shows, talk shows, and music shows on both KFUO AM and Classic 99, KFUO FM (Marconi Award winner in 1999 as Best Classical Radio Station of the Year, and finalist for the 2004 Marconi Award).
Since graduation and ordination, Ed has been a pastor of a small church in rural Michigan, a larger church with day school in small town Wisconsin, and now a large church with day school in suburban Los Angeles.. He’s married to the former Nancy Dickerhoff of St. Louis, Missouri and the proud father of Eddie, Kurt and Mark.
He’s the founder of True Men Ministries, which is dedicated to equipping all men to be better husbands, fathers, and men of God through retreats, devotionals and Bible studies, and radio. Ed has written several devotionals and Bible studies. He was the author of “Journey to Calvary,” a devotional published by Lutheran Hour Ministries for the Lenten season of 2003. He also authors a weekly devotional “In My Father’s Footsteps” available through email.
