| Five shows on two DVDs in one convenient package.
Desilu Playhouse Christmas Revue -- December 25, 1959 (CBS)
Hollywood gossip queen Hedda Hopper interviewing Lucy and Desi about the Desilu Players and the show they recently staged. This leads to flashbacks of Lucy (who is directing the stage show) making chaos backstage between the musical numbers. 54 minutes. Good- condition.
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour – December 24, 1967 (CBS)
Tom and Dick welcomed guests Jack Benny, Nanette Fabray, Pat Paulsen and Marcos Valle; the cast does its own rendition of A Christmas Carol, but oddly enough it is Tommy, not Jack, who plays the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge! This is a re-broadcast from 1992 which aired on the E! channel with opening and closing commentary by the then-current Smothers Brothers. 44 minutes. VG- condition.
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour – December 22, 1968 (CBS)
Tom and Dick welcomed guests George Gobel and the pop musical group Spanky and Our Gang, both of whom provide their own brand of musical entertainment and then perform a few seasonal skits. This is a re-broadcast from 1992 which aired on the E! channel with opening and closing commentary by the then-current Smothers Brothers. 44 minutes. VG- condition.
Andy Williams’ Early New England Christmas -- December 7, 1982 (CBS)
Taped at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont with guests Dick Van Patten, figure skater Dorothy Hamill, flautist James Galtrey, and 11-year-old Aileen Quinn (“Annie”). 48 minutes. Good+ condition.
The Donny and Marie Show -- December 17, 1976 (ABC)
Filmed at the Sundance Village and Ski Resort near Provo, Utah with guests Andy Williams, Paul Lynde, and the Osmond Family. 50 minutes. Fair condition. |
