Bob Hope’s Military Holiday Celebration (1956 and 1969): The Bob Hope Chevy Show (December 28, 1956) -- From Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Guests include Peggy King, Jerry Colonna, Mickey Mantle, Hedda Hopper, Carol Morris (Miss Universe), The Del Rubio Triplets, The Purdue University Glee Club, Les Brown and his Band of Renown, and Ginger Rogers. In addition to Bob’s usual stand-up routines, there are two major skits. In the first, Bob plays a tourist who ends up in a rough Alaska bar during the holiday season, and in the second, Mickey Mantle plays a a pampered, spoiled private who's just been drafted, much to the chagrin of his commanding officer (Hope). 46 minutes, including some original commercials; The Bob Hope Christmas Special (January 15, 1970) “Around The World With The USO” -- Bob Hope's 19th Christmas abroad and 6th year overseas during the Vietnam War included highlights from his fifteen day tour entertaining the troops in Europe and Southeast Asia. The 24,000 mile tour began with a send-off at the White House. Some of the performers with Bob Hope were Connie Stevens and astronaut Neil Armstrong, fresh from his walk on the moon!
