| Ten westerns from the classical Hollywood period are featured in CLASSIC WESTERN HEROES. The collection displays the range and breadth of westerns from the 1930s-1950s. The "singing cowboy" films and their trademark stars are represented with SING COWBOY SING and MY PAL TRIGGER, which feature Tex Ritter and Roy Rogers respectively. Classical westerns with the genre's most recognizable stars are exemplified by BLUE STEEL with John Wayne and SANTA FE TRAIL with Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan. Finally, the effort to bring maturity to a genre often derided as juvenile can be seen in THE OUTLAW, directed by Howard Hughes and infamous for its frank (for the period) depiction of sexuality. Rounding out the collection are THE BIG TREES, VENGEANCE VALLEY, RAGE AT DAWN, ABILENE TOWN, and THE PAINTED DESERT.
