While mostly focused on the relationship between a cowboy and his horse, the film also contains all the makings of a great B-western: tense drama, action, and fast-paced hi-jinks.

Springtime in the Rockies (1937)Roll on Texas Moon (1946): To get the Delaney ranch Cole's henchman Anders has started a phony range war between the cattlemen and sheepmen. 5 out of 5 stars5 out of 5 stars5 out of 5 stars5 out of 5 stars5 out of 5 stars Roys favorite film and somne of his best music, 8/6/2007
Reviewer: O.J. Sikes (Leonia, NJ)

The CD with this set includes the cleanest version of Roy’s 1938 Okeh recording of “Hi-Yo Silver” I’ve ever heard. The rest of the songs are from Roy’s RCA Victor years, the 1940s, when he was at his peak as the King of the Cowboys. The selection is excellent, with “Blue Shadows on the Trail” and others he recorded with the Sons of the Pioneers, along with a square dance call and several movie themes. All are clean as a whistle, and the 2 movies are great fun. “My Pal Trigger’ was Roy’s favorite movie and both films have mighty fine Western music by Roy & the Sons of the Pioneers. The title song from “Roll on Texas Moon” is also on the CD in this set. Highly recommended!
