I found saxophonist Gerald Holden while doing a web search for new artists who were not signed to a major label. I'd been looking for material for Ambient Cafe -- smooth jazz on that particular evening--and felt I'd hit the jackpot when I found his "Fearless" CD.
It didn't take long for me to decide that I not only wanted to play this Chicago cop's tunes on the show, but I wanted to work with him through my business, www.kissoflovemusic.com. "Karina", a song he wrote for his wife, was the clincher for me, but I was also intrigued by the overall feel and sound of the album.
Eddie Torres deserves a lot of credit in that way. He runs Rushing Wind Productions out of Aurora, Illinois, and produced the "Fearless" CD. Gerald brought a great package to the table with well-written original material and marvelous ability to make his horn flow with him. Eddie was able to bring that to life with a hot, crisp production and sizzling drum programming that make the album really tasty.
