Notes:
For Tim Ponzek, the "edge" is the line where rock meets country. His music crosses back and forth between the two with ease in the genre of Americana.
Born In Philadelphia, he was constantly surrounded by all kinds of music, and it was always a major part of Tim's life growing up. With three older brothers, all of whom played instruments, there was always someone playing music. "I remember in my teens, Tim recalled, I was in a band with my three older brothers. When we were finished practicing the current songs, my father would come in and sing some Hank Williams, Fred Rose or Gene Autry songs. (His father, Larry, sang cowboy songs on the radio) We'd finish playing a Beatles song; then we'd play some Hank. It was a great musical environment to grow up in." When Tim wrote his first song at age 11, he realized that music was within him and Tim has devoted himself to cultivating that talent ever since.
He decided to release this CD making the music the way he hears it. And what does Tim's music sound like? "Well, if in 1956, John Hiatt and Mary Chapin Carpenter had given birth to a boy; he might have written songs similar to the ones I write."
"It took me many years to complete "right to the edge" and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I feel the songs I've chosen show off my songwriting talent and my diverse musical background. the most difficult part of making this cd was deciding which songs to put in and which ones to leave out." -Tim Ponzek |
