Notes:
Lew Doty, a singer/songwriter who studied arrangement and composition at The Guitar Study Center in Manhattan and who performed his own compositions for ten years in colleges and clubs in and around New York City, hung up his guitar one day and didn't pick it up for over a decade, allowing his life to take him in other directions. Eight years ago his introduction to the New Thought Movement reawakened the music that lay sleeping within him. Almost immediately songs started coming through him, but this music unexpectedly had taken a glorious new turn. The God music was unlike any he had ever experienced before. Lew has often said, "I do not write these songs; I simply am the first to hear them."

Lew spent the next few years writing and performing his music in his home church, The Center for Conscious Living in Moorestown, New Jersey, and then began to branch out to other New Thought churches in the greater Philadelphia area. He played some of his own compositions as the opening music for New York Times best selling author Don Miguel Ruiz, world renowned writer and lecturer Jean Houston and New Thought's beloved author and speaker John Randolph Price. As his fan base grew, more and more people asked, "When is the CD coming out?" After much prayer and meditation, Lew knew that the concept of a CD was taking form in the One Mind and soon the time was at hand.

Once again through prayer and meditation and an innate knowing, Lew contacted a musician he had known in New York to see if there was any possibility that they might work together. Vinnie Zummo had spent eight years as Joe Jackson's lead guitarist, had done countless hours of studio work playing with Art Garfunkel, Shawn Colvin and many others, appeared with the CBS Orchestra on the David Letterman Show, recorded his own compositions, played on some of the most popular commercial jingles, and produced music for other artists. The two launched into a working relationship with Vinnie arranging and producing Lew's first CD, ONE, and adding his brilliant lead guitar parts along with a myriad of other instruments to most of the cuts on the CD. Into this creative soup Lew brought Gary Deinstadt, an old friend, Broadway keyboard player and Emmy nominated musical supervisor for CBS's The Guiding Light to arrange, orchestrate and play incredible piano parts on the final tune of the project.

Lew's music is a combination of the many influences on his style which include The Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Stephen Sondheim, but it has taken on a life of its own in a tasty blend of all these and more. His lyrics are filled with New Thought ideas and Science of Mind principles. His voice ranges from angelic and tender to smoky and hard-driving. The songs are often deeply contemplative, but easily transition to outrageously joyful and sometimes even humorous in their style. But the one continuous thread throughout this music is its intention. These songs draw the listener ever closer to Source. And that is their goal. Lew's music is equally for those on their own path to God and for those who have never even considered deepening into something more. The message is one of acceptance, love, allowing, peace and connectedness. You can't help but hear God in Lew Doty's music.
