| Al Vega has been performing in the Boston,
Massachusetts area since 1938. The Boston Media refers to Al as "Boston's Living Legend of Jazz." He's worked opposite virtually every name in American jazz like Dizzy Gillespie, Betty Carter, Lester Young, Stan Getz, Billy Holiday! Vega is a master at piano and vibraphone, attributing his success to the inspiration of one of history's most significant jazz musicians, Thelonious Monk, whom Al used to watch in the 1950s at the Hi-Hat Club in Boston. Vega and his trio perform jazz standards and music from "The Great American
Songbook."

Al reminds me of vintage wine. He gets better as time goes by. In his 60 years as a musician, I think this collection is his finest effort. With wonderful support from Dave Landoni on bass and Mickey Jullian on drums, Al takes us on a wonderful journey of old favorites and two original compositions. On behalf of the thousands of delighted music lovers who enjoyed this unique individual's gifts through the years, we say "Thanks You Al, you're the greatest!" - Ron Della Chiesa WGBH Boston, WPLM Plymouth |
